deLoach Named Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Presbyterian College sophomore Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Tennis Player of the Week, while Winthrop's Alice Garcia (Brasilia, Brazil) has been named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for matches played Feb. 4-10, it was announced today by the League office. 

deLoach won all four of her matches, helping Presbyterian College to a 1-1 record last week.  Playing at the No. 3 position, she topped Andrea Pavlovic of Savannah State, 6-0, 6-1.  deLoach and teammate Kayla Stanford bested Savannah State's Davita Washington and Tiffany Williams, 8-5. Against Western Carolina on Sunday, she won at No. 2 in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) over Sara Ruiz Pajares. deLoach faced Pajares again for No. 3 doubles, winning the match 8-5 with Stanford's help.

deLoach shares the team lead with three wins in singles play and four wins in doubles action.

The Blue Hose open Big South Conference play on Sunday at Longwood. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
