CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team
handled Savannah State on Tuesday afternoon in a win at Templeton Tennis Courts, 7-0.
PC improves to 3-2 on the year with his third straight win while
Savannah State falls to 1-1.
The Blue Hose swept all three doubles matches and won all
six singles contests.
In doubles action, Greer Ransom (Athens, Ga.) and Lindsay
Krause (Roswell, Ga.) faced Sandra Kristjansdottir and Nicole Ashiedu at the
top flight in the day's closest match. Ransom and Krause prevailed against the
Tiger duo, 8-6.
At the second flight, Patricia Alves (Campinas, Brazil) and
Haley Elliott (Greenville, S.C.) knocked off Esmira Gheisary and Andrea
Pavlovic, 8-4, while Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) and Kayla Stanford
(Canton, Ga.) blanked Davita Washington and Tiffany Williams at the third flight,
8-0.
In singles play, Ransom rolled past Gheisary at No. 1 and
deLoach took down Pavlovic at No. 3 by identical 6-0, 6-1 margins.
At the second flight, Alves dispatched Kristjansdottir with
a 6-2, 6-4 win. Krause also topped Ashiedu at No. 4 in a 6-2, 6-1 result.
The Blue Hose completed the total sweep with a Lucia Leahy
(Charlotte, N.C.) blanking over Davita Washington at the fifth flight, 6-0,
6-0, and an Elliott victory over Williams, 6-1, 6-0.
PC next hosts Western Carolina on Sunday afternoon. First
serve is slated for 1 p.m.
