COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (20-28, 5-15 Big South) will travel to Columbia, S.C., for a Tuesday night matchup with the defending champion No. 3 South Carolina Gamecocks (37-10, 18-6 SEC) at 7 p.m. A live audio broadcast of the game from John Avery will be available in Laurens County on WLBG-AM 860 and worldwide on GoBlueHose.com.

The Blue Hose are coming off of a 6-3 win over Winthrop on Sunday, giving PC its first 20-win season since 2004 and the best win total in Head Coach Elton Pollock's seven-year coaching career (set in 2006, with 19).

PC enters Tuesday's game looking for their first win over South Carolina since 1948 as the Blue Hose trail in the all-time series, 41-19.  The two sides have met six times since PC's 1-0 win in Clinton on April 27, 1948, with one game coming later in the 1948 campaign and one again in 1953 until the next meeting in 2008. PC nearly took the 2008 matchup, falling 2-1 in 10 innings on March 10, and lost the 2009 game by one run, 6-5.

Freshman righthander Bud Jeter will likely start for the Blue Hose in his 12th start of the year. Jeter captured his team-leading fifth win in a 9-4 win over Davidson on May 3, going five and one-thirds innings and allowing six hits and three runs. Jeter's win tied him for eighth in the Big South Conference in wins with fellow PC pitcher Steven Richardson

South Carolina enters Tuesday's game with a 37-10 overall record and an 18-6 record in Southeastern Conference play. The Gamecocks dropped the final two games of their three-game weekend series against Ole Miss, the second time this year USC has lost two in a row. South Carolina is ranked No. 3 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll and No. 4 in the Baseball America Top 25 and the Collegiate Baseball Top 30. The Gamecocks are led by 1B/3B Christian Walker, who boasts a .372 batting average and 46 RBI. USC will likely start Patrick Sullivan, a sophomore righthander who has a 1-0 record in seven appearances this season.

Shortstop Andrew Williams captured Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District III Second Team honors last week for his work in the classroom, maintaining a 3.96 grade point average as a psychology major.

Freshman 1B/C Brad Zebedis leads the Blue Hose in average (.418), hits (76), total bases (125), runs (38, tied with Tony Micklon), home runs (10), RBI (47), slugging percentage (.687) and on-base percentage (.476). Zebedis also leads the conference in several of the same categories, including batting average, hits, home runs and total bases.

The Blue Hose stay on the road for their final seven games of the year, heading south to the Charleston, S.C. area for the next four. PC will take on Charleston Southern in a three-game series this weekend before facing the College of Charleston on Tuesday.
